Mogadishu library

Good Afternoon

It is an absolute honor and privilege to stand before you today as we open the doors to our new library—a place where knowledge, imagination, and community will flourish. Today marks an important milestone, not just in the history of this building, but in the lives of everyone who will walk through its doors.

A library is much more than just a collection of books; it is a sanctuary of learning, a hub for creativity, and a space for all of us to connect with one another. Whether you are seeking knowledge, inspiration, or a quiet place to think, this library will serve as a beacon of opportunity for all who visit.

This library represents the collective effort of many individuals—architects, designers, builders, and, of course, the passionate librarians and educators who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. We are deeply grateful for their hard work and dedication.

Today, we also celebrate the future of learning and the potential that lies within these walls. Here, students will discover new worlds, authors will find their voices, and families will create lasting memories together. Whether you are here to study, explore, or simply enjoy a good story, this space is yours.

I would like to take a moment to thank Mr Abdikarim Garruun, and everyone who has supported this project, for their belief in the power of libraries and education. It is because of you that this dream has become a reality.

As we cut the ribbon today and officially open this library, let us remember that it is not just a building; it is a place where ideas are born, where knowledge is shared, and where the community grows stronger.

On behalf of Somaville University, I welcome you all to explore, learn, and grow with us. We look forward to seeing how each of you will make this library a part of your own journey.

Thank you, and let’s celebrate this exciting new chapter together!
